This isn't the Sam Darnold thread. Bringing up Purdy's ranking doesn't mean this is a conversation for this thread.

Sam Darnold being 21st on this list is a crime. He f**king sucks and the only thing hes better than Purdy is getting mono..

Mono boy... tfoh

I mean he led Seattle to ring while having a great season. I don't see the issue with it.

The top 100 is voted on before the playoffs, so the Super Bowl wasn't a factor. Purdy also missed half the season, so that he was ranked at all is a bit of a surprise.

The WK 17 primetime game against the Bears probably kept him on a lot of guys' lists.

jesus

Some people just can't let go of Darnold's bad experience in NY. After spending some time in SF he says he learned alot and it shiwed when he played in Minnesota. Then again in Seattle. I don't care about these QB rankings. That's why I don't care about where Purdy is ranked. The NFL isn't a popularity contest. It's about winning and both Purdy and Darnold have shown they can win with the proper support.

Agree. He was thrown into a horrible situation. Coming out of college, he scored the highest grades at the QB position of all time (according to ESPNs grades).

I also felt he was gonna be an elite QB. Size, athleticism, arm, poise, leadership, he had it all. As a Trojan fan he was awesome to watch play.

But you go to a sorry ass team, it's rare a QB succeeds early on.

The issue is more the narrative. If Purdy wins a title the same way Darnold did it would've been Brock's D and run game carrying him. Guy had one good half in 3 playoff games. Was very similar to Hurts the year before.

The Top 100 is bs anyways. We discussed this years ago, and I posted links to it, as well as others showing just how dumb it is.

Players aren't forced to do it. So you have some teams that have 30 players voting, and another team that only 10 players vote. I remember one year they had some ridiculous ranking for a QB, and it came out that majority of that team voted and they voted him as #1 so it shot up his rank a lot(wish I could remember who it was).

Walker lead them and carried Darnold in the playoffs

So let me just get this right here. 49ers fans took offense to people saying CMC, Deebo, Yuk, Kittle carried Purdy in 23 yet here 49ers fans are saying the same thing about Seattle? Hmmm

Because no one is saying it about Darnold. Just like no one said it about Hurts in 24. Supporting cast only seems to matter when it's Brock.

Also rewatch those 23 playoff games and tell me Brock was carried to the SB.

Because it's b******t that only people here do. It's like in the TC thread people days ago were talking about how great the offense was because they beat up the Titans. Now the Chargers are beating up the 49ers and its "Oh who cares it's just training camp" Seattle doesn't win a ring without Darnold.

Well considering Purdy was in the MVP conversations and did virtually every single thing his doubters claimed he couldn't do during that playoff run and Darnold was asked to not lose 2 of the 3 games and even was protected via playcalling vs the Rams it's not quite apples to apples.

No its an inconsistent narrative only applied to Brock. Brock has to transcend all the problems of his team just to be given the littlest bit of credit. Meanwhile Hurts and Darnold can just be marginally effective and still win and they get credited for the wins.

15 starting qbs could've won with Seattle last year. Same with Eagles in 24.

9ers are absolutely not in the SB with either in 23. Brock actually made.the critical plays that were the difference in the playoffs. No blowouts or defensive dominations where all he had to do was not screw things up.

TC stuff has nothing to do with this conversation.

Seattle D kept the 49ers to 6 points and Pats to 13(including a garbage time TD)

Yes he had a great game vs the Rams but even in that game Rams muffed a critical punt and then still had first and 10 at the Seattle 12 and failed to score late in that game with the Seahawks D making a stand.

Question would be why does Darnold gets a pass for the other games? Where was the adversity he had to overcome? We've seen him crumble in those moments in the past but they were down for less than 2 minutes during their whole playoff run and that was by only 3 points.

Good for Sam for avoiding mistakes and doing what he needed to do to win those games but don't expect everyone else to be in awe of the guy for it.

this is not a good post imo first off it's not on topic second it's plain wrong to think darnold didn't have adversity guy got crushed and booed out of 2 cities and had to rebuild his entire career and btw he did that here and he credits Brock Purdy and SF as a big reason to bring it back on topic,

Definitely not the case.

Walker was ok. But he didn't come on until after about week 14 or 15. He was great in the playoffs, but all season he was meh.

He had (2) 100 yard games all season, and there was a lot of talk about Charbonet taking over as lead back last year.

Darnold had been bad a lot of his career. But he's been pretty friggin good the last 2 seasons.

amen if anything it's a testament to 49er culture being elite, with brock's elite anticipation and elite head coach, we turn around careers here and we may be doing it again with mac jones, but ppl want to dump on sam cuz they argued way back when he was a bad signing and couldn't hold a clipboard and they have to be right (even if they are wrong)
